Welcome to Cranora. These Terms describe the rules for using our Chinese dictionary and learning app and related services. In these Terms, “Cranora,” “we,” and “us” refer to the provider of those services. Please also read our Privacy Policy.
1. Using Cranora
By accepting these Terms, you agree to follow them when using Cranora. You must be legally able to enter this agreement or have the permission required by applicable law.
Cranora includes dictionary searches, definitions, examples, pronunciation, character information, collections, word books, and learning and review features. Availability depends on your device, language, downloaded content and access plan. Some features require an internet connection.
2. Accounts
You may use supported features as a guest. To register an account, provide a working email address and complete verification. Keep your account information accurate and your login details secure. Contact us if you suspect unauthorized access.
Do not impersonate another person, sell your account or use accounts to bypass purchase restrictions. Guest and unsynchronized data may be lost if you remove app data or lose access to your device.
We may send account verification, security, purchase-support and service-related messages. Registering does not automatically subscribe you to promotional email.
3. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains the information processed on your device, information sent to our services, and your privacy choices. Accepting these Terms does not replace any separate consent required by law.
4. Content and permitted use
You may use Cranora for personal dictionary reference and learning. Cranora and its licensors retain their respective rights in the app, artwork and content. Third-party dictionaries, fonts and open-source components remain subject to their own licenses; these Terms do not restrict rights granted by those licenses or by law.
Do not redistribute protected content without permission, interfere with the service, bypass security or purchase checks, forge purchase information, evade reasonable usage limits, or submit unlawful or abusive material.
Dictionary examples may include slang or profanity for educational purposes. Definitions, translations and learning materials can contain errors and do not guarantee exam results or language proficiency. Please report inaccuracies through Feedback.
5. Your content and Feedback
You retain your rights in the text, images and other material you submit. You permit us to store, process and display that material as needed to provide the features you request, synchronize your data and respond to support requests.
Feedback is a private support conversation, not a public feed. Authorized support staff can view your messages and attachments. Images may be compressed and have embedded metadata removed. Do not include passwords, payment-card details or unnecessary personal information.
Sending Feedback does not give us a general right to publish your private messages or screenshots in advertising.
6. Purchases and subscriptions
The app and store confirmation show the price, billing period and features before purchase.
- Offline Dictionary is a one-time, non-renewing dictionary purchase. It does not include the paid learning subscription.
- Cranora Premium is a monthly or annual auto-renewing subscription. While active, it includes paid learning features and dictionary access. It does not grant permanent ownership of the separate dictionary purchase.
- If you also own Offline Dictionary, the end of your Premium subscription does not by itself remove that independent purchase.
- Complimentary access, where offered, follows the scope and duration stated with the grant.
A one-time dictionary purchase has no scheduled subscription expiry. It does not include every future product or guarantee compatibility with every future device. Your statutory rights in paid content remain unaffected.
Apple handles App Store payments. Subscriptions renew unless canceled according to the store's terms. Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings before the store's renewal deadline. Cancellation normally stops future renewals, with access continuing through the paid period unless refunded or revoked.
Deleting the app, signing out or deleting your Cranora account does not cancel a subscription.
7. Linking and restoring purchases
Your Apple Account and Cranora account are separate. Eligible guest purchases may be linked to a registered Cranora account after your confirmation. Check the destination account before confirming.
A purchase linked to a registered Cranora account remains with that account. Restore Purchases recovers eligible access; it does not transfer the purchase to another registered account or a new guest. Expiry or account deletion does not automatically release a purchase for reassignment.
Use the original purchasing Apple Account and the linked Cranora account when restoring. If access is not confirmed or the purchase is linked elsewhere, contact support rather than purchasing again to bypass the issue. Applicable store-sharing rules and non-waivable legal rights remain unaffected.
8. Refunds and price changes
For Apple-billed purchases, use Apple's refund process. Eligibility depends on the store's rules and applicable law. Contact us for help with missing access or purchase errors. We cannot guarantee Apple's refund decision.
Price changes, renewal notices and any required consent follow applicable law and store rules. Subscription changes or credits are handled by the store. Buying Premium does not automatically refund an earlier dictionary purchase. Nothing here excludes mandatory refund or other consumer rights.
9. Service changes and account closure
We may update Cranora and apply reasonable security and usage limits. We will provide notice of material changes affecting paid services where required by law and preserve any applicable remedies.
We may restrict access for a material breach, fraud, a security risk or a legal requirement. Where appropriate, we will explain the restriction and offer a way to contact support. You can contact us if you believe a restriction is mistaken.
You may stop using Cranora and delete your account through the app. The Privacy Policy explains deletion and limited retained records. Cancel any unwanted store subscription separately.
10. Availability and responsibility
We aim to provide a reliable service, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability or error-free content. Downloads need available storage; network charges may apply. Synchronization can be delayed, and local content may be lost if you remove it.
To the extent allowed by law, the service is provided as available. Nothing in these Terms excludes legally required standards of care, consumer guarantees or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. We do not guarantee learning outcomes.
11. Changes to these Terms
We will date updates and provide appropriate notice of material changes. Where required, we will obtain your acceptance. Changes do not remove accrued statutory rights. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent lawful.
The applicable Apple Standard EULA continues to govern the iOS application license. These service terms do not override mandatory law or Apple's applicable store rules.
12. Contact
For support, privacy requests, intellectual-property concerns or questions about these Terms, email support@cranora.com. For a content complaint, identify the material and explain the issue so we can investigate.
